EYE ON KIDS: Greenhouse for Greene Intermediate
Some South Bend students are getting the chance to learn a little something different - how to garden.
The school corporation and city are discussing building a greenhouse at Greene Intermediate Center on Roosevelt Road.
Greene became an environmental school a few months ago, adding sustainability to its curriculum.
With the greenhouse project now being discussed, kids are getting excited about learning without books.
"I know kids are getting tired of sitting in classrooms and learning about everything," said Greene student Richard West. "But you get to go outside, learn about nature, learn about plants."
Greene will also introduce an agriscience component to its curriculum... Which teaches about good farming practices.
