2018 to be a big year for construction in St. Joseph County
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY —
2018 is expected to be a big year for construction in St. Joseph County.
The county's Economic Development Director, Bill Schalliol, gave commissioners an update Tuesday.
The county is in the process of buying new pieces of land in the New Carlisle area. The land will help the county turn the area into a place for industry.
Schalliol says there are multiple projects in the works. A concrete supplier has already bought its own land.
"Smith-Ready Mix is looking to come into this market. They are currently in Valparaiso and the western part of the state. They filed a rezoning request last year, so it'll go through the area plan commission, the County Council in January and February. Then we'll hopefully break ground early Spring 2018,” said Schalliol.
The company would bring between 25 and 50 jobs to the area.
