UPDATE: Victims identified after head on collision in LaPorte County
LAPORTE COUNTY —
At least four people were injured in a head on collision in LaPorte County Sunday afternoon.
The LaPorte County Sheriff's Department says it happened at U.S. 20 and C.R. 300 East around 6:15 p.m.
Investigators say 18-year-old Justine Mains was driving down U.S. 20 when she crossed the center line.
Mains hit 23-year-old Kenneth Winquist head on.
Witnesses tell police Mains was attempting to change the radio station.
Winquist and a passenger from the other vehicle, 18-year-old Asia Vannarath, were flown by medical helicopter to the hospital. They are said to be in critical condition.
Both Mains and her other passenger, a 17-year-old woman, were also taken to the hospital. They were reported to be in serious condition.
All four victims are expected to survive.
Police are investigating to see if alcohol or drugs were a factor.
