Closing a door can keep you safe in a fire
Fire crews are encouraging people to close their doors when they go to sleep.
The Penn Township fire department demonstrated Saturday closing doors can prevent fires from growing and spreading.
They used a small box with burning wood to show how quickly a room can ignite when oxygen channels are open.
The fire is just like a human being, it needs oxygen to survive. If you can limit the amount of oxygen going to that fire then you can knock it out.
The demonstration fire re-ignited shortly after the door opened.
The fire department says parents and kids should all leave their doors closed at night.
