Police: 6 students have minor injuries after school bus crash in downtown Elkhart
Police say 6 out of 23 students on a school bus involved in a crash Wednesday morning were taken to Elkhart General Hospital with minor injuries.
This happened at North 2nd Street and West Jackson Boulevard in Elkhart just after 8 a.m.
The bus was northbound on 2nd Street when it T-boned a car that ran a red light, say police. The driver of the car was not injured.
Six students were transported from the scene to the hospital with minor injuries.
Another 2 students were later transported from Beardsley Elementary to the hospital with minor injuries. They have since been released.
The kids on the bus were 6 to 7-year-olds, say police. The uninjured students were put on another bus and taken to school.
23 children were on the bus at the time.
