EPA report on Beck's Lake shows no immediate risk from exposure to soil
SOUTH BEND —
The EPA report on Beck's Lake is now in.
The agency reports soil samples show no immediate risk from exposure to the soil there.
Beck's Lake is close to LaSalle Park in South Bend.
There has been concerns about possible contamination of lead and arsenic.
The EPA tested soil back in October, that's what these results are from.
That means no cleanup of the site is needed.
Mayor Pete Buttigieg says the findings are important for the community to ensure the health and safety of that area.
