Fat Daddy's demolition is in the works

The three buildings that once housed Fat Daddy's Discount Outlet in downtown South Bend are coming down.

Our partners at the South Bend Tribune say a company that wanted to build senior housing on the site couldn't get tax credit funding through the state.

The city's board of public works will vote to advertise bids for the demolition of the block on Tuesday.

The city declared the buildings structurally unsound and a safety hazard since a 2015 fire there.
