Goodwill gesture leads to illegal dumping at Transpo
The general manager of Transpo is worried about illegal dumping on his property.
David Cangany says he temporarily allowed the city to use the old Transpo headquarters site to dump tree limbs and other damage from last week's storm.
But now, the site is dealing with illegal dumping from the public.
This is the same site Transpo is trying to sell, and Cangany says that's hard enough.
"We have enough to worry about in terms of selling the property, keeping the buses up and running," explained Cangany. "The last thing we want to worry about is having to police and deal with folks dumping illegal on our property."
Cangany says he was trying to step up and help the city after the storm.
"No dumping" signs are posted on the property.
