I Love to Read is Coming!
Teachers, sign up your classroom starting January 8th
Last year, over 11,000 kids read more than 5 million minutes during the month of February! Won’t you join the fun this year?
How does it work?
Teachers register their classroom to participate. The I Love to Read Challenge runs from February1st through February 28th. Kids count the minutes they spend reading during the month of February and compete for prizes!! SEE BELOW FOR THE AWARDS!!!
Who can participate?
Any teacher in the WSBT-TV viewing area, Kindergarten through 6th grade, can register their classrooms to participate.
What do I need to do to register my classroom?
Register your classroom at wsbt.com by January 26th. Your class must be registered to be eligible for prizes and to receive certificates of participation from the WSBT and the St Joseph Public Library.
What prizes can my classroom win?
The top student at each grade level will win a $50 check from WSBT and the St. Joseph Public Library.
The top three classrooms each win $250 check from WSBT and the St. Joseph Public Library!
Are there other awards? YES!!!
RETURNING THIS YEAR:
Each school that registers for I Love to Read is eligible for a random drawing for $5,000 that will be awarded at the end of the competition. To be eligible to be entered in the drawing, the school must have 50% of their total classes, K-6th grade participating. Only those schools with 50% of their classes will be entered into the drawing.
Important Dates to Remember
January 8 through January 26: register on-line
February 1 students begin logging the minutes they spend reading daily
February 28: I Love to Read Challenge ends
March 1 – March 3: Students turn in Calendar Logs to their classroom teacher. Teachers enter classroom results on line at wsbt.com.
March 5 - Monday: DEADLINE-all verifications must be received.
March 22: Award celebration at the St. Joseph County Public Library for individual and classroom winners!
