Indiana State Police investigating shooting and police chase
LAPORTE COUNTY —
Indiana State Police are investigating a multi-county police chase and shooting. North Judson police were chasing 34-year-old Jeremy Hansen Thursday afternoon.
Authorities say Hansen was wanted on a warrant. They say when he was pulled over on State Road 10, Hansen gave the officer a fake name and then sped off from the scene.
During the chase, police say, Hansen shot twice at officers from the back of his truck. The chase ended near 2300 South just east of U.S. 421 in rural LaPorte County.
That's when police say the driver shot himself in the head. Hansen was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend in life-threatening condition.
