Judge dismisses lawsuit in Elkhart Martin's shooting
A St. Joseph Superior Court judge has dismissed a lawsuit against Martin's Super Markets.
The judge ruled Tuesday against the estate of 44-year-old Rachelle Godfread.
She was one of two people shot and killed more than four years ago at an Elkhart store.
Martin's employee Krystle Dikes, 20, was also killed in the shooting.
Police shot and killed the gunman at the scene.
The lawsuit claimed Martin's didn't have proper policies or training to protect guests from an active shooter.
According to our partners at the South Bend Tribune, the judge said Martin's had no duty to protect Godfread from being shot.
