Ladybugs raising cancer awareness
The local Susan G. Komen group is using ladybugs to raise cancer awareness. It's teaming up with Michiana Hematology Oncology to put up ladybugs to call awareness to breast cancer.
Dozens of them have been turned into art.
They're being placed at Michiana Hematology Oncology in Mishawaka.
Organizers hope the creativity gets more people involved.
"People do a great job," said Sheri Miller Story of Komen of Northern Indiana. "It's always neat to see how different minds work and what colors they're going to use, and stickers, and they've got feathers and crystals and all kinds of things, so it's really neat to see just the creativity."
The ladybugs will be moved to Potawatomi Park for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on June 14.
That event is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the local foundation.
