UPDATE: Power expected to be restored by 2 p.m. in downtown St. Joseph, Michigan

Viewer Rusty Schrubba sent us these photos of a large tree that fell, taking down power lines on Langley Avenue in Kiwanis Park. Over 1,000 customers are without power in St. Joseph.

Roughly 1,700 I&M customers are without power in the area of downtown St. Joseph.

Most are centered around the bluff and Silver Beach.

We are told a tree fell onto power lines, sparking the outage. I&M says the estimated restoration time is 2 p.m.

Trinity Lutheran School in St. Joseph is closed for the day. The school is in the area without power.

St. Joseph City Hall is a polling location that is within a power outage area. It is running on a generator to make sure people can vote today in Michigan elections.
