Lawmaker introduces bill to rename part of Red Arrow Highway
BERRIEN COUNTY —
A lawmaker wants to honor a fallen Michigan State Trooper. Representative Kim LaSata introduced a bill to rename part of Red Arrow Highway for Robert Mihalik.
It would be the south of Benton Harbor between Glenlord and Hilltop roads.
The trooper was shot and killed in 1984 while arresting a suspect who didn't pay for gas and cigarettes.
The bill would rename that part of the road "Trooper Robert J. Mihalik Memorial Highway".
It's in a Michigan House committee right now.
