A Mishawaka pool damaged by vandalism is fixed, full of water and set to open.

The Mishawaka Parks and Recreation Department announced Friday morning that they had successfully patched a tear in the lining of Merrifield Pool.

The company that applied the patch is confident it would hold for the summer season, the parks department said. The pool has been filled with water, and plans call for it to open June 5.

Last week, the parks department announced vandals had slashed a hole in the pool’s liner and officials feared they would have to replace the liner at a cost of $300,000. If that had been the case, they doubted the pool would be able to open this summer.
