Mishawaka to kick off Winterfest
Mishawaka is getting in to the holiday spirit.
Saturday, the Merrifield Park ice rink will open for the season.
It's part of the city's annual Winterfest.
Santa will be in town for the event. There will be carriage rides, a bonfire and outdoor showing of the movie "Elf."
The fun starts at 5 p.m. and goes until 8 p.m. at the rink on Saturday.
New this year, the city parks are offering a combo pass for the ice rink and for the Wilson Park tubing hill.
It costs $70 per family that lives in the city and $85 if you don't live in Mishawaka.
A reminder that South Bend's Howard Park rink remains closed for reconstruction. But for those of you in Elkhart, NIBCO rink is already open.
