Mosque open house held in South Bend
The mosque at the Islamic Society of Michiana hosted an open house Saturday afternoon.
The idea was to connect those in the community with people of the Muslim faith.
It also gave them an opportunity to learn what happens at a mosque and to observe a prayer session.
Leaders of the mosque say they want to calm any fears in the community.
"They are good neighbors like anyone else especially with what is going on," said open-house attendee Paul Borowski. "They thank the Lore for everything thing."
The mosque leaders say they have been getting better attendance at their events in recent months.
"I hope they learn how nice the people are, how welcoming the community is," said Hannah Malik, 16.
