UPDATE: Police name motorcyclist killed in St. Joseph County crash
Police have released the name of a motorcyclist who was killed after crashing near the railroad tracks south of Lincolnway and Beech in St. Joseph County Sunday.
This is in the Osceola area. The crash happened sometime around 6 p.m.
The motorcyclist has now been identified as 34-year-old Michael C. Wallace of Osceola.
According to a news release from police:
Wallace had been southbound on Beech from Lincolnway, when he lost control of his motorcycle, crossed through the northbound lane and went onto the shoulder. The motorcycle struck the northernmost rail of the multiple tracks at that crossing, and was thrown from the motorcycle. Wallace was not wearing a helmet, and suffered severe head injuries.
There was no train at the crossing and no other vehicles were involved, say police.
