New information in Riley basketball coach resignation
SOUTH BEND —
There are new details on the abrupt resignation of Riley High School Basketball Coach Mark Johnson.
Johnson told our reporting partners at the South Bend Tribune that parent interference made it difficult for him to do his job.
He says a parent went around him to set up team meals and a photo shoot for senior players. At the same time, Johnson says he was pressured to open more roster spots on his team and avoid cutting one player in particular.
Johnson emailed Riley's principal saying the parent, "tried to manipulate her agenda into our program."
Johnson resigned in March claiming he was forced to not cut certain players from his team.
