Niles man arrested for threat that prompted lockdown at North Carolina school
New information is being released on a man arrested in Charlotte, North Carolina Tuesday.
The Berrien County prosecutor says 28-year-old Isaac James Burch could be extradited back to Michigan within three weeks.
Burch was wanted by Michigan police on a fugitive warrant.
The Niles Police Department says he was facing local charges of preparation to commit arson and assault and battery.
Burch was arrested by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police after another department told them to be on the lookout for him.
They say Burch threatened to come to the area to kill his ex-wife, an elementary school employee. That threat convinced the local school system to cancel classes for Sterling Elementary School.
More than 700 kids stayed home.
Officers say they found Burch's truck parked at a hotel in Charlotte and arrested him on the warrant.
