It was a commercial barn that caught fire.
Owner Kenneth Sebasti, Sr. said 15 vintage Ford trucks 4 Ford cars, refurbished antique John Deere tractors and some farm equipment were stored inside the building.
It appears the fire ignited when Sebasti was starting one of his old Ford trucks, which backfired on him, and the tire caught fire.
However, the cause is under investigation, according to the New Carlisle Fire Department.
Sebasti unsuccessfully tried to put it out, but the fire began to spread.
He suffered a few minor blisters trying to put out the initial flames but was cleared by paramedics on the scene.
Sebasti told WSBT 4 or 5 Ford trucks were damaged.
The fire was contained to the north end of the building, thanks to the quick response of firefighters.
Firefighters from five departments were on site.
