South Bend Police Officer Joseph Carey suffered minor injuries in a crash Thursday night with a vehicle police say did not have its headlights on. Carey was treated at a local hospital and released.
Carey was going east on State Road 23 and turning into the Martin's at the intersection with Ironwood responding to a call. A car traveling southwest with its headlights off struck Carey's vehicle, South Bend Police spokesman Ken Garcia said.
This happened just after 11 p.m.
The driver of the civilian vehicle was not injured, police said after the crash. That driver was cited for not having headlights on, not having a license and not having insurance.
