Skies are busy over Warsaw for annual air show
The skies were busy over Warsaw Saturday for the annual Air Show.
Runways were kept busy with dozens of planes and helicopters taking off to give rides to aviation fans.
Thousands of people turned out to watch the show, which included a World War II, C- 54 plane that participated in the Berlin airlift -- dropping Hershey bars attached to parachutes. Pilots of the planes were called the "candybombers."
The goal of the show is to interest kids in aviation and honor those veterans who took flight.
"How do we get kids here? Let's have an air show, have it promoted, so that kids can be inspired and take a ride," Air Show Organizer Al Hoover said.
Plans to have the show again next year are already in the works. WSBT Photographer Lucas Parker took a ride in a helicopter early yesterday morning, you can find more photos from the show HERE.
