South Bend leaders propose 100 Homes in 500 Days program
SOUTH BEND —
South Bend city leaders could begin a new project to develop housing on the west side of town.
The South Bend Tribune reports the plan would fill empty lots with new homes for lower-to-middle income families.
The initiative works with Mayor Pete Buttigieg's 1,000 Homes in 1,000 Days plan.
It's called 100 homes in 500 days and would renovate existing homes on the west side of town.
It would take an estimated $6 million dispersed over two years.
City leaders want to have a market study to determine the highest demand for west side housing.
