An Indiana Michigan Power spokesman says a squirrel got into a substation in Elkhart County and knocked out power to more than 4,000 customers.

Brian Bergsma says the power was knocked out about 12:15 p.m. Monday

All of it was back on by early Monday evening.

About 1,300 customers were without electricity in Elkhart County.

Nearly 2,600 I&M customers were without power in St. Joseph County and 200 in Berrien County.

The outage comes less than a week after storms that included 11 tornadoes across northern Indiana left thousands without power, some for several days.
