Brand new video into our newsroom this morning shows one woman's daring getaway from an escaped inmate at a Middlebury gas station.
In this surveillance video, shot in February, you can see convicted killer Michael Elliot in the dark jacket and white sweater.
Just hours before, police say Elliot escaped from the Ionia Correctional Facility near Grand Rapids.
The blurred person seen here talking to the clerk is the woman police say Elliot carjacked shortly after his escape, taking her with him.
Police say the woman snuck out of the car and got the Middlebury clerk to write down the gas station's address.
She then locked herself into the bathroom and called 911.
Police rescued her minutes later.
Elliot got away from the gas station but police later captured him near Rolling Prairie.
He's now back behind bars in Michigan.
Elliot is a convicted killer serving no-parole sentences for four 1993 homicides in Gladwin County. He is due in court this week to face kidnapping, carjacking and escape charges.
