right now there's a new route from Transpo in place.

Transpo is extending a current route to reach the new VA Health Care Center in Mishawaka.

The following is a release from Transpo:

The South Bend Public Transportation Corporation (Transpo) announced service to the new St. Joseph County VA Health Care Center will start on Wednesday, September 13.

Transpo worked closely with U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly, U.S. Congresswoman Jackie Walorski and the cities of South Bend and Mishawaka since the announcement of the new VA Clinic location. “We have a strong relationship with the VA and our goal was to ensure transportation would not be a barrier for those who have served our country”, said David Cangany, General Manager and CEO. “Our team worked to adjust the existing route without compromising service to other areas, demonstrating our commitment to providing connections to healthcare and employment opportunities”, continued Cangany.

Service will be provided via Transpo’s existing 15A University Park Mall / Mishawaka via Main Street route. In order to accommodate the additional stop at the VA Clinic, located at 1540 Trinity Place in Mishawaka, the 15A will no longer serve the following areas:

- Douglas Rd between Main St & Grape Rd

- Grape Rd between Douglas Rd & Indian Ridge Dr

- Indian Ridge Dr between Grape Rd & Main St

- Super Target

Service for these areas will continue to be provided by the 15B University Park Mall / Mishawaka via Grape Rd route.

The 15A route originates at the Mishawaka Transfer Center and travels north on Main St. From Main St, the route will head east on Douglas Rd to St. Joseph Health System and then continue on Douglas Rd, south on Fir Rd and west on Trinity Place to the new VA Clinic. Bus stop #1941 is located on Trinity Place near the main entrance.

The 15A will stop at the VA Clinic hourly from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to coincide with the clinic hours.
