Trial set for man accused of setting foreclosed home on fire
The man charged with setting his old house on fire in St. Joseph County appeared in court on Monday.
Douglas Wilcox, 62, faces arson charges for the August 12 fire at his former Sandybrook Drive home in Clay Township.
Wilcox on Monday was in court for a status hearing.
A plea deadline was set for November 25 with his trial scheduled to start in January.
Wilcox lost the home in a foreclosure, and the new owners were scheduled to move in just days later.
Police arrested him nearly three weeks later at Firekeepers Casino in Battle Creek.
Investigators say Wilcox's old home was intentionally started in the basement.
