THURSDAY MORNING UPDATE: Cass County police say a missing man with dementia has been found. They issued the following release just after 9 a.m. Thursday --"...advised by the White Pigeon Police Department that Charles Rusher was found in that village."White PigeonPolice has advised that Mr. Rusher had broken into a residence during the nighttime hours and fell asleep on a couch. The homeowner discovered Mr Rusher this morning and contacted police at 8:22 AM."At this time the homeowner is not pressing charges and Mr. Rusher, who was not injured but is extremely disoriented with no knowledge of how he arrived at the residence, will be transported back to Cass County to a location to be determined by Guardianship Alternatives, the court ordered agency that has legal guardianship of Mr. Rusher."
WEDNESDAY NIGHT UPDATE: Cass County police have released a photo of a missing man with dementia who they say walked away from an assisted living facility."According to their release: "Charles Rusher is believed to have a full beard at this time not just a goatee. The Cass County Sheriff's office has been assisted in a ground search effort with assistance of the Wayne Twp, Sister lakes, and Dowagiac Fire Departments as well as the Michigan State Police Niles Post and K9 Unit. The Cass County Search and rescue unit as well as the Cass County Blood hound. efforts have and will continue through out the night. Any information that could be assistance to this effort should be forwarded to the Cass County 911 center."
Original story: Cass County police are searching for an elderly man with dementia who walked away from an assisted living facility Wednesday afternoon.
Officials say 59-year-old Charles Rusher was last seen around 3 p.m. this afternoon at a assisted living facility on the corner of Morton Road and Glenwood Street.
Rusher is 5'6" tall and weighs about 125 pounds. He is a white male and very tan, with a bald head and a very long goatee.
He was last seen wearing a pair of grey sweat pants and a gray striped shirt.
