UPDATE: Officials release cause in barn fire that killed 18 horses


We now know what is believed to have caused that big barn fire last week in Cass County that killed 18 horses.WSBT spoke with a Michigan State Police fire investigator who says the fire has been ruled accidental.He says the fire at Smithfield Stables is believed to have started after someone on the property started burning leaves behind the barn.It was a windy day last Tuesday, but they say they have no direct evidence to prove the fire was started by the leaves.

A dog and a donkey also died in the massive blaze.

No people were hurt.
