Ohio National Guardsman surprises girlfriend with homecoming proposal
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) -- It was a family mission, but two servicemen and a servicewoman successfully pulled off a surprise proposal for an unsuspecting bride-to-be.
Sean White, a member of the Ohio National Guard, popped the question to his long-time girlfriend, Erika Turner, upon his return from deployment at John Glenn International Airport.
She said yes.
"He got me," said Turner, who wasn't expecting White to get down on one knee.
White said it was a plan that was in the works for six months, since the day he left as part of the 121st Refueling Wing on his way to the Middle East.
His father, also a serviceman, got the ring during his deployment overseas. When he came home, he and his wife, an Air Force veteran, continued to plan the proposal.
It was unique homecoming for another National Guardsman, who met his four-month-old daughter for the first time.
