Road rage incident leads to discovery of father's gun in diaper bag

Police say Tarell Davis pulled out a gun during a road rage incident, then nearly ran over people in the Green Twp. Police parking lot (HCSO)

GREEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) - An Indianapolis father was arrested at the Green Township touch-a-truck event, after he allegedly pointed a gun during a road rage incident on the highway and then nearly struck people with his truck at the event . Tarell Davis faces child endangering, aggravated menacing, drug and gun charges.

Police said the incident started on I-74 when Davis pointed a gun at another driver Saturday. The other driver told police Davis was speeding recklessly on the highway and hand gestures were exchanged before Davis allegedly pulled out the gun. The other driver's 11-year-old daughter was a passenger in the car.

Both vehicles stopped in the Green Township Police parking lot where the touch-a-truck event was going on.

At some point, police say Davis sped through the parking lot, nearly striking several people there for the touch-a-truck. He eventually stopped when officers drew their weapons.

As police searched his truck, they say they found a gun in the diaper bag for his 5-month-old daughter, which was next to her. Officers say they found more than $3,000 in cash in the driver's side door. They also found about two pounds of marijuana, a scale and empty plastic baggies in a backpack sitting next to his baby daughter.

Davis is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
