Burger King's Outstanding Student Athlete: Penn's Kristina Lynch
You’ll find the name Kristina Lynch all over the soccer record books at Penn high school. For good reason. There isn’t much that the senior forward cannot do.
"She has a multitude of ways that she can attack. She's not a one trick pony. She's great with both feet, she's very athletic She has explosive speed, its almost like a running back, once she hits that hole she just goes.” Said Penn head coach Jeff Hart. “She’s creative and she wants to be the best in every way."
Over her four seasons at Penn she has been, holding the record for most points and most goals. Even with the individual accolades, the forward gives plenty of credit to her team.
“The amount of support they give me has been so helpful, and they do everything they can to help me and I do everything I can to help them.” Said Lynch, “I Haven't played on a team with as good of chemistry as we have and it’s just so incredible to be playing with each other and for each other "
The Lady Kingsmen have ridden that strong chemistry into familiar territory. After capturing the 2016 IHSAA class 2A state championship, Lynch’s 44 goals and 17 assists have pushed the Kingsmen into the state finals once again, putting the senior one win away from capping a stellar career with back to back state championships.
"That'd be awesome. We’ve worked so hard for it, especially this being my senior year , it’d be so nice to end my four years with a win.”
The Kingsmen will hope to do just that on Friday down in Indianapolis. Penn takes on Guerin Catholic for the 3A state title at 8:00 pm EST at the Sellick Bowl on Butler University’s campus.
