Chairman excited to have Toms as reigning champion at U.S. Senior Open
NOTRE DAME —
The first man to earn a spot in next year's United States Senior Open at Notre Dame is David Toms. Toms held off a trio of challengers by a stroke to win the 2018 title Sunday at the Broadmoor in Colorado.
Toms will be the defending champion when one of the toughest fields in senior golf descends on South Bend in exactly 357 days.
One person who's thrilled about that is John Foster, the general chairman of next year's tournament.
Foster spoke with WSBT 22 on Monday, as the countdown to the 40th U.S. Senior Open continues.
