Culver Academy basketball wins State Championship
Culver Academy captured the program's first ever boys basketball state championship on Saturday when the Eagles defeated Evansville Bosse in the IHSAA Class 3A State Final, 64-49.
The Eagles utilized a huge first half run that gave them a 30-8 lead with under 6:00 left in the 2nd quarter, but Bosse rallied to cut the lead down to five in the second half.
CMA utilized it's defensive prowess to stall the Bulldog offense for almost a 6:00 stretch in the 2nd half, allowing the Eagles to build the lead back up to double digits.
Culver Academy rode double figure nights by their three stars to a championship as Ethan Brittain Watts paced the team with 20 points, and sophomores Deontae Craig and Trey Galloway each poured in 14 points.
The Eagles finish the season with a 23-6 record and will lose just one senior to graduation.
