Future looks bright for Notre Dame Basketball
Buffalo, NY —
Notre Dame basketball saw their tournament run end on Saturday with an 83-71 loss to West Virginia, thus ending their bid for three straight trips to the Elite Eight.
While the end of the season was a major disappointment, the future does look bright.
"We're as elite as anybody." said Head Coach Mike Brey, "We haven't won one, but we're as elite as any program over the last three years, so the bar is high for the returning group, the expectations will be high in the locker room."
The Fighting Irish return two of the top ten players in the ACC with Matt Farrell and Bonzie Colson, that is provided that Colson wants to return.
Notre Dame's stellar big man is not immune to the siren call of the NBA. Colson averaged a double-double this season playing his way onto the First-Team All-ACC squad, and has professional scouts taking notice. That doesn't mean however that Colson will flee for the pros.
"These are my brothers, I haven't even thought about anything like that." said Colson.
Should Bonzie come back to South Bend for his senior season, the Fighting Irish will return seven players that were intregal to Notre Dame's successful (26-10) season.
