Marian sights set on third-straight sectional crown
Sectional titles are on the line Friday night in Indiana.
13 local teams, in 5 classes will hit the gridiron with the hopes of taking a step closer to Lucas Oil Stadium.
In Class 3A, Marian will host Jimtown, in a rematch of an earlier NIC game, which the Jimmies won 7-0.
The Knights are healthier than they were the first meeting. So, on Friday night, Marian is looking for a little revenge.
Head Coach Reggie Glon said, "People have matured, so we're hoping that some of our sophomores that played in that first game are going to be a little bit more apt to being a varsity type players. And we're also hoping that the guys that were injured, are going to get their first chance at Jimtown. But we also know that Jimtown's got a very proud program and they want to win that sectional title just as bad as we do."
They're also trying to become the first team in school history to win three-straight sectional titles.
Senior captain, Atansio Sete said, "Friday is a chance to make some history at Marian high school. Winning this would put us in a special class at our school to win three straight titles in a row, which hasn't been done before. And the fact that it's against a team that we've lost to before makes it a little bit more special."
Jimtown and Marian set to kickoff at 7:30pm at Marian High School.
