Nico Hoerner makes SB Cubs debut

For all the Cubs prospects that have come through Four Winds Field the past four years, only one other time have the Cubs assigner their No.1 pick to South Bend, and that was Ian Happ in 2015.
However, tonight the Cubs newest top pick also took the field in South Bend.
Nico Hoerner, the Chicago Cubs 2018 first round draft pick got his first start in South Bend tonight.
The 21-year old shortstop tallied a pair of singles, batting .500 and makes several great defensive plays.
The South Bend Cubs dropped Game 2 with Beloit Thursday night, 8-1.
