NorthWood Panthers runner-up for state championship

NorthWood// WSBT 22

The NorthWood High School football team was in Indianapolis ready to play for a state championship.

The Panthers lost to Indianapolis Roncalli 34-22 for the Class 4-A State Championship.

A number of parents and NorthWood fans were on hand early Friday morning as members of the football team arrived for the bus trip to Indianapolis.

Fans, especially parents of the players, were excited after the Panthers beat the Lowell Red Devils last Friday in the semi-state.

Over the years, a large fan base has developed that follows the NorthWood team.

It’s made up of folks from around the Nappanee-Wakarusa area, who follow them through thick and thin, rain or shine, year in and year out.

WSBT 22's Adam Derengowski is in Indianapolis and will have a full recap of the game tonight on WSBT 22 News at 10 and 11.
