SB Adams underclassmen stepping up
SOUTH BEND —
The Eagles have had quite the roster overhaul, returning just six starters on both offense and defense.
"We've got a lot of kids with their first opportunity to step up and really get a lot of playing time on Friday nights. They're doing what they can to get better, and get ready to fill those shoes," said John Adams Head Coach, Antwon Jones.
Because there are so many starting spots up for grabs, Jones says a competitive training camp has helped everyone on the roster improve.
"It picks your game up, it really does. You know everybody depends on you to give all of your effort each play, they know it's their chance now. They're not going to be sitting on the sidelines anymore, because we need them. We need them to step up and we're stepping up to,” said junior, Lucencee Jackson.
Senior Liam Driscoll added, "It's very unique from my past couple of years, because now the sophomores and freshmen know that they have a shot for playing on Friday nights. So, that makes practice that much more intense, because the freshmen are coming after you, the sophomores, juniors, are going after you. So, I think that improves everyone across the board."
Adams opens their season 7 p.m. this Friday, August 18 against Northridge at School Field.
