SB Washington player out 2 games for punch at girls basketball game

A South Bend Washington High School player has been suspended two games for throwing a punch in a girls basketball game last weekend that drew national attention.

In a heated game between Washington and Oregon-Davis last Saturday night, Washington's Bre'onda Green punched Lexi Minix of OD after the two had a brief physical exchange.

A video of the fight went viral on YouTube until the video was pulled down.

According to our partners at the South Bend Tribune, a Washington administrator says the school and the IHSAA have reached an agreement on a two-game suspension for Green, who was ejected. That's one more than the automatic penalty for a single-game ejection.

Green will miss the Panthers' Friday night game at undefeated La Porte and the January 9 game at Clay.

She is also required to complete an online sportsmanship course before returning.

Minix has been cleared to play with no restrictions.
