It's a moment that been more than 70 years in the making.

Cubs fans, the time is finally here.

Tuesday night the team will take the field in hopes of bringing a long awaited World Series title home to Chicago!

Cubs fans from our area are going to be traveling to take part in the excitement.

If you are like lots of fans and heading to Chicago or Cleveland, we looked into travel for you.

If you are driving, watch out for some travel restrictions.

They've got lane restrictions in Michigan City, Gary, and LaPorte. We reached out to the Indiana Toll Road to see if they plan to lift those restrictions, a spokesperson says they'll monitor traffic but likely won't lift any current restrictions.

You also can take the train to avoid all that-- the South Shore has added trains for this week.

A spokesman says they're offering an eastbound train 90 minutes after World Series home games, no matter how late the game ends!

But you don't have to go anywhere to take part in the celebration, at Four Winds Field the South Bend Cubs are opening their doors for an open house.

Entertainment on the HD video board, full access to the performance center, plus autographs from Stu and Swoop.

Concession stands and the team store will be open as well.

The Cub's Den is expecting to get World Series merchandise in, as well.

Fans showed up right when the store opened Monday to browse the selection.

The South Bend Cubs store is open from 10-4 every day this week, plus 10-2 on Saturday.

Gates open at 7 p.m. so come on down and cheer on the Cubbies at South Bend's friendly confines.

Fox Michiana is your home for the Cubs historic trip to the 2016 World Series.

Join us at 7 p.m. for a pre-game special "Waiting For A Century".

We will broadcast live from Four Winds Field during the open house.

The games start at 8 p.m. from Cleveland then this weekend from Chicago.
