South Bend Cubs excited to be back
SOUTH BEND —
A new season of South Bend Cubs baseball begins this week.
Tuesday, we learned who will make up the team.
The Cubs announced South Bend's 26-man roster while the team was moving into Four Winds Field.
The new crop of players-- which will be led once again by manager Jimmy Gonzalez, are excited to get a new year started.
"It feels great. It really feels good to be back here in South Bend. Got a good group of guys - similar to last year. A lot of action on the field, a lot of excitement, a lot of spark, so I'm really looking forward to that,” said Gonzalez.
"We had to wake up really early yesterday for our flight. I got in here and was like man I don't know why I'm not excited but then I got in the locker room and I was like ‘Wow, I'm ready to go.’ So yeah, we're all pumped. It's unbelievable. This whole facility is crazy; I never would've expected it. I heard it was nice, but it's incredible,” said Dylan Cease.
The Cubs host the ND baseball team in an exhibition Wednesday.
The regular season begins Thursday night, at West Michigan.
