Citrus Bowl sparks Notre Dame QB controversy
NOTRE DAME —
Well the Fighting Irish started 2018 on a high note.
Number 14 Notre Dame beat Number 17 LSU, 21-17 in dramatic come-from-behind fashion.
The Citrus Bowl could have kick started yet another Notre Dame quarterback controversy.
As he had all season long, Brandon Wimbush started the game, but went three for eight for 52 yards
and as a result, the Irish offense had only three points in the first half
So, a quarterback change came at halftime
Ian Book, came in for a few minutes in the first
He opened the second half as the starter Wimbush never saw the field again.
Book finished the game 14 for 19 passing for 164 yards.
Of course, Book found Miles Boykin along the sideline for the unbelievable game winning touchdown that gave the Irish their elusive tenth win.
So, with the way Book finished the season, Notre Dame will enter the offseason with quarterback competition for the starting job come fall of 2018.
