Mike Brey signs contract extension through 2024-25
NOTRE DAME —
The winningest coach in Notre Dame men's basketball history is sticking around for a few more years. Mike Brey signed a contract extension with the university this week to remain the head coach through the 2024-25 basketball season.
Brey led the Irish to a 21-15 record in 2017-2018 and in the process surpassed Digger Phelps on the all-time wins list ending the year with 503 career victories at Notre Dame.
"You're hoping you're good enough to retire here, and they don't run you out of town and with this one we just signed, I may just pull it off." said Brey after the annual postseason awards program held on Monday, "You get here and you're just trying to survive day to day so I've been honored man. As you saw, the kind of guys I get to work with, the personalities, the intelligence, its a special place to work.
The newly inked deal will take effect on July 1, 2018 and will run through June 30, 2025.
