Cassidy Williams is a reporter for WSBT 22 News. She joined the team in December 2016.
Cassidy was born and raised in a suburb of Philadelphia. Watching the evening news was a part of her daily routine, and she knew at a young age she wanted to pursue a career in journalism.
The first step was attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She earned degrees in both Broadcast Journalism and Political Science with minors in Public Relations and Sociology. Cassidy was heavily involved in the student newscast, UI-7 News. She reported on a range of topics from tornados to the visit of presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
While attending Illinois, Cassidy also completed multiple internships. She spent a summer in Chicago interning for WMAQ-TV. As the investigative unit intern, she had the opportunity to go undercover as part of an investigation into peeling furniture. She also interned for Fox Champaign News at Nine. She helped them cover both the 2016 Illinois primary and the presidential election.
In her free time, Cassidy enjoys taking group fitness classes, watching football, and eating tacos. If you have any story ideas or taco recommendations, she would love to hear from you!
