I discovered that journalism is a vital public service sometime back in elementary school when my dad sat me down at dinner and insisted that we watched the news every night because it was "important". When I got to listening, I thought, "where would be we without journalists?"
I was born in South Bend, went to Christ the King grade school, and St. Joe High School. Needless to say, Michiana news runs deep in my veins. Out of high school I wanted to be a newspaper journalist, but I was always the kid in the family who couldn't keep her hands off the camcorder! I always had a camera at every event, whether it was a football game, family dinner, or a day at the beach. I realized after my first year at Indiana University in Bloomington, that I really wanted to be a part of TV news.
I met tons of inspiring hard workers and mentors at IU's School of Journalism (now called The Media School), but I found my home at FOX 28 news after my first summer internship in 2013. I returned as a news intern for the summer of 2014. I graduated from IU (Go Hoosiers!) and couldn't be more grateful to be a member of the family at WSBT 22 News. This is my home, so it's special to me that I can report the news that serves people who also call Michiana home.
