Man hit by boat propeller in Marshall Co. lake

The following release, concerning an accident that happened on Wednesday, was issued Thursday by the Marshall County Police Department:

"At approximately 5:08 P.M, while on Lake patrol on the northeast waters of Lake Maxinkuckee. The patrol boat was approached by a boat with its horn sounding. The operator of the boat requested help for an injured passenger with a laceration. The boat was directed to the Culver Beach pier and Culver EMS was requested to the scene.

"Investigation revealed the William Walker had been tubing and was in the water when the operator of the boat, Andre Marcotte, lost sight of him as a wave/water splashed over the bow. Marcotte stated that upon seeing Walker he attempted to shut the boat off but bumped the throttle. Walker went partially under the boat and was cut by the prop. Walker was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph's Hospital, Plymouth Campus for treatment. The injury was serious but not believed to be life threatening."
