Disney+ reveals launch lineup of family favorites, kids' classics, and obscure oddities
WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) — Disney+ has unveiled a list of hundreds of movies and TV series that will be available when the streaming service launches next month, and chances are you’ll find quite a few films you love and many others you’ve long since forgotten existed, if you ever even knew they did.
In addition to original content like the Star Wars series “The Mandalorian,” Disney+ is set to mine the studio’s vault for classic family films like “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” and “The Lion King,” as well as less classic titles like “Fuzzbucket” and “Sammy, the Way-Out Seal.”
Disney posted a ridiculously long Twitter thread Monday morning revealing a wide array of animated movies, romantic comedies, sci-fi films, TV shows, and much, much more in no apparent order. The info dump generated a mix of excitement and eye-rolls from Twitter users.
The initial lineup features plenty of predictable Disney and Pixar properties, as well as a variety of Star Wars and Marvel projects. It also includes some of Disney’s recent acquisitions from Fox like 600+ episodes of “The Simpsons.”
Disney recently announced the streaming service will feature new Marvel live-action series in the years ahead starring characters like Moon Knight and She-Hulk, but the Twitter thread confirmed superhero fans will have access at launch to multiple archived Spider-Man and X-Men animated series dating back to the early 1980s, including "Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends."
Disney+ is set to launch Nov. 12 with a monthly subscription fee of $6.99. Check out the full thread here and some highlights (and lowlights) below.
