Moms First: Dance studio helps women be brave and dance free
It’s a new dance studio but not just for kids, adults are taking part too.
The owner of Movement Made Beautiful in Granger is pushing women outside their comfort zone to be brave and dance free and full of joy, giving everyone a chance to dance.
Abby Pollyea, owner of movement made beautiful in Granger, says she opened this studio about a year ago to bridge the gap between dance and fitness.
"All of the instructors here have many years of dance education. We’ve added the fitness twist and it’s repetitive and it comes from a very authentic place,” said Pollyea.
There's a variety of levels and classes like ballroom, hip hop, and jazz.
"Frankly I'm addicted now. I can't miss a class," said Saira Rahman.
Rahman, mother of three, says the classes make her a better parent.
“Motherhood is stressful there a lot of responsibilities that we have and I feel strongly that we need to carve out that time for ourselves,” said Rahman.
A dance class can be intimidating so Abby created an on demand class that you can watch online with a full library of routines to practice.
"If you're new to the studio and you want to know what we are going to be doing there, you can log on and I have the dances in order. So the newest will be at the top of the playlist when you come to the class,” said Pollyea.
Other moms say it’s a fun and positive environment all while burning calories.
"It really made me want to stick with it. Most places are a little intimidating. Here it didn’t make me, I want to comeback all the time," said Melissa Torbert, mom of three.
For Abby she says she’s proud at how her studio lets women of all ages take a step in the right direction.
"I've seen women cry because they feel so connected and its gives them a chance to dance again,” said Pollyea.
The studio has drop in classes and monthly memberships.
